Meditation can change your brain and your life...

Learning to Meditate and/or use regular Mindfulness practices has long-lasting impacts on your brain's structure and the pattern of your thoughts and behaviors.  Meditation traditions have been passed down for thousands of years to help humans cope with stress, pain, overwhelm, death, and loss. Different traditions of meditation come from all ages and parts of the earth.

Some of the oldest traditions include:

  • Shamanic journeys, time spent in nature on a mountain, dance, and drumming.

  • Eastern philosophies include Buddhism, Zen, Yoga, Forest bathing, Vipassana, and Taoism.

  • Western Traditions, including Judo/Christian traditions, include contemplative prayer, inspirational or scriptural reading, sacred music, and spending time in holy places such as mountains or pilgrimages to cathedrals or temples.

Meditation is accessible to everyone regardless of your spiritual or religious views. You don't need to become a guru to benefit.
No matter your cultural background, religious views, or ethnic origins, you can use many aspects of these traditions when you spend time in nature, practice mindfulness moments, use visualizations, create art, or journal.  Please note that these are only a few, and there are many more. The most essential element that ties all of these traditions together is that when you engage in meditative practice regularly, you learn to bring your heart and mind into a connected space that is peaceful, alert, and attuned to your body and your environment. No we are not just trying to put you to sleep.

Daily practice is best but any amount of time you can devote will help.
By doing this daily practice, your body's chemistry begins to change from a high cortisol Fight-Flight-Freeze state into a calm rest state.  You start to gain mastery over your emotions, and you learn to shift your mind states as needed. With time, you can gain confidence that no matter the stressful situations life throws at you, you will be able to wisely and effectively make choices that lead you to a happier existence.

Meditation is more than just changing your attitude, it is a real and lasting change in your brain and body. These internal changes often radiate outwards into your sphere of influence making even bigger changes possible. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
